The master plan focused developing a growth strategy for the Air National Guard compound at Camp Murray, a site with numerous constraints. The user needed six new buildings (57,900 SF) within five years, and two others (47,600 SF) within ten years. The design team created site plans of various building configurations to accommodate the required square footage needed on the site.
Pedestrian circulation between the main training buildings was consolidated in a loop. The new master plan reinforces the existing perimeter parking and develops paths from parking areas to the pedestrian loop. The master plan options cluster new facilities around this loop so that they work with the existing structures to achieve the overall goal for site organization. The analytical drawings and site concepts are graphically clear, and client groups were able to choose an alternative which was developed further to complete the master plan.
